About The Event
Hosted By: Brad Mead, Invasive Species Coordinator
Help us search for and remove the English Holly that threatens one of the StreamTeam’s restoration project in the Rock Creek subbasin of the Salmon Creek Watershed!
You will be trained how to identify the plant and use a cool tool called a weed-wrench before setting out with your team leader to walk along the project looking for it.
You must be able to navigate over uneven terrain and through thick vegetation. Please note that this is a very physically demanding activity and may require walking in the stream and over steep terrain. Long sleeves and pants are recommended, since there is a significant amount of Blackberry at the site. Training, tools, and gloves provided at all events. Please wear sturdy, closed-toed shoes – rainboots or waders provided upon request.
Saturday events will meet at the Bell Mountain Project by 9am. We will have you back to the parking lot between 12:30 and 1pm. You must be 16 or older to participate. Volunteers under the age of 18 who will not be accompanied by their legal guardian will need to bring a signed copy of a guardian release which can be found using the following link.
We strongly recommend that you bring a snack, water, and sunscreen.
